Geographic Information is an effective tool for decision support besides being a power tool for spatial knowledge management. The expertise available with RCSD relates to

• GIS-enabled information systems for management of soil and water in watershed

• Terrain modelling

• Spatial Data Management and map production

GIS applications is a growing industry and the infrastructure and inputs necessary being large, the area therefore presently concentrate on in-house support.

Projects:

• Village survey for Remote village electrification in Assam under project entitled “Development and Implementation of a Geographical Information System (GIS) and Knowledge Management tools for Capacity Development at National Level for Remote Village Electrification Programs in India” under GAP Funding of Global Village Energy Partnership in collaboration with Shree Shakti Alternative Energy Ltd.(SSAEL).
